The Proposal - Part 1

Ahhh, Wedding Proposals... something so sweet and romantic that all almost all women just involuntarily sigh when they hear about them... and, of course, all men shudder in memory of forgotten fiascos, nervousness or indecision.

This then is the story of Kevin's wedding proposal to Jessie... Oh, and before you start reading get your kleenex handy...

It was a dark and stormy afternoon. Hurricanes and nasty weather had caused some concerns about the romantic cruise that Kevin and Jessie had planned for July. As the boat sailed into the harbor for boarding, the young couple grew slightly nervous. What is in store? What lay ahead? Would their mighty ship be tossed ashore to a Gilligans Island?

A salty, seadog sea Captain (now say that 5 times fast) standing on the dock gave them encouragement...."The worst the storms gonna do ye is to blow ye off course to ports unknown... noone dies on Skipper Jack's cruise... well, unless ye eat the sushi." So with hand in hand Jessie and Kevin boarded the cruise ship looking for adventure and romance on the high seas.

The wind was brisk... the couple was happy...

The rooms were luxurious. If only have this picture of Jessie's room... Obviously Kevin had another room on the ship somewhere ... after all, they couldn't be sharing a room since they weren't even ENGAGED YET ! Jessie cuddled with her towel swan at night and dreamed of seeing Kevin's dreamy brown eyes soon.

Fate, alas, had other plans. When the young couple disembarked at their first exotic point of call..Kevin (a previous boy scout) insisted that the memorize the map, just in case they became separated.

.

They made arrangements to meet at the corner of Caroline and Duval streets if they were separated. Jessie loved the romantic sound of the street corner... Caroline and Duval... sigh....

After strolling for a while, Jessie was momentarily lured by the attention of a golden man... really, though, who wouldn't be?

It was just a brief fling, but Kevin took it hard... Very hard. In despair he stumbled into a nearby bar. After a few drinks, Kevin began telling his tale of woe to the bartender... "I'm Kevin," he said and to his amazement the bar erupted with cheers. "Welcome to Irish Kevins," the bartender shouted and poured Kevin a shot. Liking the results of previously stating his name, Kevin tried it again... "I'm Kevin" and the bartender poured another shot. This continued for some time and finally Kevin began telling his tale of woe to the other drunks (um, I mean bar patrons)

.

"I've lost the shining star in my life" he said to everyone....

"The butterfly of my soul," he mumbled....

"She ran off with some spider of a guy".... (hey, I can only work with the pictures I have so quit groaning about the story here) All I ever wanted in life was her and to be the First Mate. (this particular story you will have to get from Kevin!)

"I admit that sometimes I might have been crabby, but I really love her!" (I think this is a crab in this picture but if it isn't just use your imagination !)

The crowd in the bar fell silent... such a tale of sadness and woe...
